History of Inlay Art
Inlay art on delicate precious stones began in Florence, Italy, around the end of the 16th century, known as Pietra Dura (Pietra = Stone, Dura = Hard).
Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan was a significant patron of this art in India, evident in the Taj Mahal and other monuments.

Process of Inlay Art
Engraving:
Predefined patterns (e.g., floral or geometrical designs) are engraved on the marble slab.

Cutting:
Small pieces of marble in different shades are delicately cut to fit precisely into the grooves.

Inlaying:
These pieces are inserted into the grooves and secured with a white putty made from oil and wax.

Polishing:
Once the design is dry, the piece is polished with a mixture of sand, water, and emery paper for a smooth, shiny finish.
